Kris Aquino chooses six months of isolation: ‘each day is a gift’

After two quiet months by the sea, Kris Aquino is returning to her roots — and to a new chapter marked by both caution and courage.

The “Queen of All Media” shared on Instagram that she will undergo preventive isolation for six months, settling at her family’s compound in Tarlac. The decision comes ahead of an intense round of treatments for her autoimmune conditions, which have now climbed to 11 diagnoses.

“In six days, I’ll have another six-to-eight-hour infusion session — one of the strongest autoimmune immunosuppressants,” Aquino wrote. “Together with my daily medication and regular injections, my immunity will be totally wiped out. This is why I have to isolate.”

For Aquino, “Alto” — the nickname she and her Cojuangco cousins have for their ancestral compound — will now be more than just a place to stay. It will be her sanctuary, a space where she can protect her fragile health and find strength in solitude.

Kris Aquino shares a heartfelt message about her health challenges and upcoming six-month isolation for treatment, expressing gratitude and the importance of family support.

But this journey isn’t just about medical protocols. It’s about coming to terms with life’s uncertainty.

“I chose to step away from social media for a while,” she admitted. “If I told you everything that was happening, some might stop praying. My illnesses were increasing, my life-threatening conditions demanded a brave choice. Every night, I sleep knowing there may be no tomorrow.”

Her post also offered a glimpse into her sons’ lives — and how her condition has shaped their paths. Josh, her eldest, has temporarily moved in with a “genuinely super loving cousin” after becoming visibly distressed by seeing his mother in a frail state. Bimb, now 18, remains her constant companion and source of hope.

“He is heaven’s gift,” Kris said of her younger son. “My optimistic adult who reminds me never to surrender. Once my treatments and recovery are done, we’re ready to share everything with you for the first time.”

Aquino’s candor sparked a wave of support online, with friends and fans — including Aga Muhlach, Melai Cantiveros, Arnold Clavio, and even her impersonator Krissy Achino — sending words of encouragement.

The update follows last month’s news of her weight gain, reaching 112 pounds — a milestone for someone who has long struggled with maintaining weight amid her illnesses.

Kris Aquino’s six months ahead will be filled with medical challenges, but also with moments that test her emotional resilience. As she faces each day with gratitude, she leaves her followers with a reminder: even in uncertainty, there is strength in choosing to fight.
