Kevin Durant joins exclusive 30,000-point club, cementing legacy

Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant has etched his name in the history books once again, becoming just the eighth player in NBA history to reach the 30,000-point milestone. The Phoenix Suns forward achieved the feat with a free throw against the Memphis Grizzlies on Tuesday night, further solidifying his place among the game’s all-time greats.

Durant, known for his scoring versatility and efficiency, finished the game with 34 points on 12-of-18 shooting, three rebounds, three assists, and five blocks. Despite his strong individual performance, the Suns fell short in a 119-112 loss to Memphis.

With this latest scoring outburst, Durant’s career total now stands at 30,007 points—an elite benchmark few players have ever reached.

Joining legends on the all-time scoring list

With this achievement, Durant joins an exclusive fraternity of NBA legends who have surpassed the 30,000-point mark. He becomes the eighth player in history to accomplish the feat, joining:

  • LeBron James (41,623 points and counting)
  • Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (38,387)
  • Karl Malone (36,928)
  • Kobe Bryant (33,643)
  • Michael Jordan (32,292)
  • Dirk Nowitzki (31,560)
  • Wilt Chamberlain (31,419)

Julius Erving also reached 30,026 combined points across the NBA and ABA, though only his NBA total is counted in the official rankings.

A career defined by scoring excellence

Durant’s journey to 30,000 points has been a masterclass in consistency and efficiency. Since making his NBA debut in the 2007-08 season, he has averaged 27.2 points per game, shooting an impressive 50.1% from the field and 38.7% from the three-point range.

His offensive arsenal—ranging from pull-up jumpers to lethal three-point shooting and elite finishing at the rim—has made him one of the most unstoppable scorers in basketball history.

Standing at 6-foot-11 with the ball-handling and shooting ability of a guard, Durant has been at the forefront of the NBA’s modern offensive evolution. His ability to score at all three levels—inside, mid-range, and beyond the arc—has redefined the expectations for a forward in today’s game.

An ever-growing list of achievements

Durant’s scoring brilliance has already earned him a long list of accolades, including:

  • Four-time scoring champion (2010, 2011, 2012, 2014)
  • Two-time NBA champion (2017, 2018)
  • NBA MVP (2014)
  • 14-time All-Star
  • 11-time All-NBA selection

Even at 36 years old, Durant remains one of the league’s premier offensive forces, showing no signs of slowing down. With plenty of basketball left in his career, he is well on climbing even higher on the all-time scoring list.

For now, Durant’s latest milestone is another testament to his greatness. The 30,000-point club is reserved for only the most prolific scorers in NBA history—and Kevin Durant belongs among them.
