Reports claiming that Albuera, Leyte Mayor Kerwin Espinosa was shot are false, his lawyer clarified on Sunday.
“Fake news po. Matagal na naka [schedule] yung medical check-up and treatment niya sa matagal [nang] injury sa kanang kamay nya. Just talked to him a while ago,” attorney Raymund Palad told GMA Integrated News.
Palad explained that Espinosa only went to Manila for his scheduled medical check-up and treatment for an old injury in his right hand.
Last April, Espinosa was shot while campaigning in Albuera. He denied staging the ambush and said he feared for his life after seven policemen were charged in connection with the incident.
