Actress Kaye Abad expressed heartfelt admiration for the parents of her husband, Paul Jake Castillo, during an interview with Melai Cantiveros on the show Kuan on One. Despite their family’s success, Kaye described her in-laws as humble and grounded.
“Mabait sila and they are very simple. Hindi sila ‘yung mayayaman na may engrandeng bahay. Sila very simple, very practical family,” she shared.
Paul Jake’s family owns a major pharmaceutical and consumer goods manufacturing and distribution company based in Cebu. Kaye praised how her in-laws raised their children, including Paul Jake, to be hardworking and independent.
“Na-appreciate ko ang father and mother-in-law ko because they raised their children very well. Silang magkakapatid sina Paul Jake, [they told them] na mag-work talaga kayo. Di ba ‘yung ibang mayayaman na may family business, ‘yung iba maghihintay na lang na tumanggap ng dividend. Ang mother and father-in-law ko sila talaga, ‘Hindi. Mag-work talaga kayo para may maipamana kayo sa inyong kids,’” she recounted.
Kaye also highlighted their generosity, especially toward household helpers. She noted their support during Typhoon Odette in Cebu, saying, “And very, very generous sila, very helpful. Kahit sa mga helpers namin, di ba nag [bagyong] Odette sa Cebu, tinulungan talaga nila lahat ng helpers namin, very generous talaga sila.”
Married since December 2016, Kaye now resides in Cebu with Paul Jake and their two children, Joaquin and Iñigo. In a previous interview with Karen Davila in August 2024, Kaye shared that she never hesitated to relocate to Cebu after marriage.
“Never akong nagdalawang isip,” she said. “It was really my dream to have my own family. As early as 18 sabi ko when I have my own family, I think I’ll stop acting because I want to concentrate with my family. At least ngayon hindi naman ako nag-stop, I’m still here, nag lie low lang.”
Kaye enjoys her laid-back lifestyle in Cebu, saying, “I love it here in Cebu, very laid-back, simple life, everything is near. I would drive my kids to school. Mago-grocery ako mag-isa. Yung buhay na pinangarap ko natupad lahat dito.”
