American pop star Katy Perry and Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom have parted ways after nine years together.
PEOPLE confirmed the breakup after a source told them that the pair’s relationship had been rocky for a couple of months, “they’re pretty much done,” the source said, and that they “don’t really see them being able to turn things around here.”
A close source also confirmed to US Weekly that the pop star-actor pair have split but are “amicable,” adding that “it’s not contentious at the moment. Katy is, of course, upset but is relieved to have avoided going through another divorce, as that was the worst time in her life.”
The “Roar” singer, who is currently on her The Lifetimes Tour, is “keeping busy” and “is distracted,” according to the insider.
It is not the first time that the couple has broken up. They have been open about the ups and downs of their relationship.
In February 2017, a little over a year of dating, Perry and Bloom briefly separated. Speculations grew when the stars arrived separately at the annual Vanity Fair Oscars party. Soon after, their representatives released a joint statement, confirming the split, “Before rumors or falsifications get out of hand, we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time.” They eventually reunited a year later.
Perry announced her relationship with Bloom to the public in May 2016 via an Instagram post, a few months after they first met at an afterparty of the Golden Globes Awards. The Lord of the Rings actor proposed to the singer on Valentine’s Day, 2019.
Both parties have yet to personally confirm the breakup rumors. They have a 4-year-old daughter born in 2020, Daisy Dove Bloom.
