Private prosecutor Atty. Lorna Kapunan criticized Vice President Sara Duterte’s defense team for complaining about the sequence of evidence presentation in the impeachment trial, arguing that the defense itself requested that prosecutors finish presenting evidence on all articles before taking its turn.
Kapunan said the prosecution originally proposed an article-by-article presentation, allowing the defense to immediately respond to each charge.
“Kasalanan nila ‘yun. Sila ang nagsabing ‘kayo na muna bago kami,’” Kapunan stressed.
She maintained that the original proposal would have given Duterte’s lawyers a clearer opportunity to explain their client’s position on each allegation.
“Eh ayaw nila eh. Ngayon nagrereklamo sila. Bakit?” she added.
