The Kanlaon Volcano on Negros Island registered multiple ash emission on Monday December 22, 2025
Two episodes of ash emission were monitored near the summit of the volcano Monday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
In a Facebook post, PHIVOLCS said that the volcano emitted ash between 9:01 a.m. to 9:29 a.m. and 10:29 a.m. to 11:07 a.m.
“These events generated grayish plumes that rose to 300 meters above the crater before drifting northwest,”
Another ash emission was recorded at the summit of the volcano Monday afternoon 4:05 pm. It persisted for two hours, according to a separate post by PHIVOLCS.
“The ash plume rose 900 meters above the summit and dispersed to the general northwest. Thin ash may have affected communties in La Carlota and Bago Cities and Murcia, Negros Occidental.”
Kanlaon Volcano is still at Alert Level 2, entry into the four-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) and the flying of any aircraft near the volcano are prohibited due to the volcano’s increased activities.
