Journalists testify in NBI probe of VP Sara threats

Journalists assigned to the Office of the Vice President appeared before the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Cybercrime Division on Wednesday to provide information regarding the alleged threat to the life of Vice President Sara Duterte.

Reporters from the Manila Times, Rappler, and the Philippine Daily Inquirer were summoned as they were covering news related to the Office of the Vice President (OVP).

The NBI clarified that they would gather statements about what happened before and during the online press conference.

During the online press conference, Duterte made death threats against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Lisa Araneta-Marcos, and House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez. This prompted the NBI to investigate Duterte.

Duterte explained that she made the threats on the condition that she would die first, suggesting that a threat against her life had provoked her response.
