When JM Bravo helped Terrafirma secure its first win of the PBA Philippine Cup season, it wasn’t just another victory — it was the culmination of a promise to his late father.

The 25-year-old forward, selected 56th overall in last month’s Rookie Draft, delivered a breakout performance with 18 points and eight rebounds in Terrafirma’s 97–91 upset over NLEX at the Ynares Center in Antipolo. For a player drafted last, it was the kind of moment that felt like destiny.

It’s a mindset forged through hardship. While playing for Lyceum in the NCAA, Bravo’s basketball journey nearly ended after a frightening in-game collision left him unconscious. Yet only three weeks later, he was back — helping the Pirates reach the Final Four in Season 100.

“Sobrang struggle ‘yung nangyari sa akin noon,” he recalled.

Behind Bravo’s perseverance was the steady voice of his late father, whose encouragement became the anchor that kept him going.

For Bravo, every rebound and every basket is a tribute — not just to his own resilience, but to the man who taught him to never give up. From the last pick of the draft to the spotlight of the PBA, JM Bravo is proving that heart, not hype, makes a player truly special.
