Jeo Ambohot embraces a new beginning

For Jeo Ambohot, the coming PBA Season 50 feels like turning a brand-new page.

The 6-foot-7 forward will suit up for a different team for the first time in his young career after Converge dealt him to NorthPort in a sign-and-trade transaction that also involved Phoenix, Evan Nelle, and Larry Muyang.

Ambohot admitted that parting ways with the FiberXers stung, especially since Converge made history by drafting him as its very first pick—third overall—in the Season 47 Rookie Draft shortly after acquiring the Alaska franchise.

“Of course, it’s sad because I’ve been with Converge for quite some time. We built strong bonds there,” said the former NCAA Finals MVP from Letran.

Still, he’s choosing professionalism over nostalgia.

“The trade caught me by surprise, but that’s the life of a PBA player. You never really know when you’ll be moved to another team, and that’s part of the job. You just have to stay ready for whatever happens,” he added.

During his three seasons with Converge, Ambohot never fully maximized his potential. Now, he sees his move to NorthPort—soon to carry the Pureblends franchise banner—as a chance to prove himself and elevate his game.

“It’s a fresh start. A new beginning,” Ambohot said with a smile, eager to show that the best is still ahead.
