Jazz trades Collin Sexton to Hornets’ Jusuf Nurkić

The Charlotte Hornets have bolstered their backcourt firepower by acquiring dynamic guard Collin Sexton from the Utah Jazz in exchange for veteran center Jusuf Nurkić. As part of the deal, the Hornets will also receive a 2030 second-round draft pick from the Jazz.

The 7’0 feet Jusuf Nurkić was acquired by Charlotte in a trade with the Phoenix Suns. He averaged 8.9 points, 7.8 rebounds in 51 games last season.

Sexton, on the other hand, averaged 18.4 points and 4.7 assists in his 63 games last season. The two veterans can be a great help to their new teams as stable backups for the starting players in the upcoming season.

Sexton, who is known for aggressive drives and high motor, could provide valuable scoring off the bench or slide into a starting role depending on lineup needs.

Nurkić, though not the offensive force he once was due to injuries, still remains a force in the paint and under the rim with strong rebounding instincts and veteran experience.

The veteran big man is set to make $19.3 million this season, while Sexton is on the books for $18.9 million. Both players are under contract through 2026, when they’ll become free agents.
