Criss Cross hitter Jaron Requinton was named Player of the Week on Monday following a series of standout performances in the 2025 Spikers’ Turf Open Conference.

The former University of Santo Tomas beach volleyball standout played a crucial role in Criss Cross’ dominant run last week. He contributed nine points in their commanding 25-12, 25-18, 25-22 victory over VNS-Laticrete last Wednesday. The following day, he exploded for 18 points, leading the King Crunchers to a stunning 19-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-19 upset over defending champions Cignal HD Spikers.

Requinton capped off his impressive week with a career-high 22 points, delivering 15 attacks, five kill blocks, and two service aces in Criss Cross’ hard-fought 20-25, 25-13, 24-26, 25-19, 15-11 win against Savouge on Sunday, keeping their record flawless at 9-0.

The 6-foot-2 outside hitter earned the weekly award for March 12-16, as voted by reporters covering the league. He edged out teammates Jude Garcia and Ish Polvorosa, as well as CJ Segui (VNS), Steven Rotter (Cignal), and Mark Calado (Savouge) for the honor.

“Of course, I’m proud of myself because all the hard work I put into training is paying off,” said Requinton in a news release.

“The things our coaches drilled into us during training are now showing on the court, no matter the opponent. I don’t want to let them down with my performance every game,” he added.

Requinton emphasized that their wins over Cignal and Savouge have given them a major confidence boost heading into the semifinals.

“It helps our morale, but at the same time, we must stay focused and avoid complacency. Once the semis begin, everything resets to zero,” he said.

Criss Cross is set to take on PGJC-Navy on Wednesday before turning their attention to the round-robin semifinals.
