The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) is bringing cloudy skies and scattered rains over parts of southern Mindanao, while most of the country continues to endure hot and humid conditions, the state weather bureau said Monday.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the ITCZ, where winds from the northern and southern hemispheres converge, continues to influence weather patterns over southern regions.
Pagasa said the system was affecting the Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Soccsksargen, and the Davao Region, bringing scattered rain showers and thunderstorms.
The agency said the weather disturbance is expected to linger over Mindanao for another day before gradually shifting away by midweek.
While rains were affecting the south, most of the country, including Metro Manila, remained under the influence of the easterlies, resulting in generally warm and humid conditions.
Temperatures in Metro Manila ranged from 25°C to 33°C, with similar heat levels observed in other key areas across Luzon, Visayas, and parts of Mindanao.
Pagasa added that localized thunderstorms were still likely to develop in the afternoon or evening despite the overall warm weather pattern.
Meanwhile, no tropical cyclone or low pressure area was being monitored inside or outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR), and no gale warning was currently in effect over any seaboard.
