MANILA – The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will continue to bring rains over parts of the country on Tuesday, October 6, according to DOST-PAGASA.
In its latest forecast, the state weather bureau said the ITCZ is affecting Palawan, the Visayas and Mindanao, where cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms are expected. Moderate to at times heavy rains may trigger flash floods or landslides, particularly in vulnerable areas.
Batanes and the Babuyan Islands will experience cloudy skies with light rains due to the northeasterly wind flow.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, meanwhile, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by localized thunderstorms. PAGASA warned that severe thunderstorms could still result in flash floods or landslides.
For Metro Manila, temperatures are forecast to range from 24°C to 33°C, with a 60 percent chance of rain on Tuesday.
Moderate to strong northeasterly winds will prevail over Extreme Northern Luzon, where coastal waters will be moderate to rough at 1.2 to 3.1 meters. The rest of Luzon and the eastern section of the Visayas will have light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas.
PAGASA on Monday officially declared the end of the southwest monsoon or Habagat season following changes in the prevailing weather pattern.
