Rain clouds are sticking around as multiple weather systems continue to drench large parts of the country, according to the state weather bureau.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) remained active over southern Mindanao, fueling widespread rains in the region.
At the same time, easterlies were driving moisture into the Visayas, while localized thunderstorms were building up over Luzon, adding to the wet conditions.
The weather agency said afternoon and evening thunderstorms were expected to remain a daily occurrence in many areas in the coming days.
The pattern was seen to persist for at least three to five days, keeping skies generally cloudy with intermittent downpours.
Southern Mindanao areas such as the Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro region, Soccsksargen, and parts of Davao were likely to experience frequent rains and thunderstorms due to the ITCZ.
Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon were expected to see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated showers, while similar conditions would prevail across the Visayas and other parts of Mindanao due to easterlies.
Despite the widespread rains, Pagasa said it was not monitoring any low pressure area or tropical cyclone within or near the country’s area of responsibility.
