The intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ) continues to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms over large parts of Mindanao on Friday, December 19, according to the state weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said two other weather systems are also influencing conditions in other parts of the country.

Pagasa said the northeast monsoon, or amihan, is still affecting Northern Luzon.

At the same time, easterlies continue to prevail over the rest of the country.

“The entire Mindanao remains affected by the ITCZ, which is expected to continue bringing rains over large parts of the region,” Pagasa weather specialist Loriedin dela Cruz said.

She added that “the northeast monsoon or amihan is still felt in Northern Luzon, while easterlies prevail over the rest of the country.”

Pagasa said the ITCZ is bringing cloudy skies with rains over Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, and Ifugao.

Cooler temperatures are expected in these areas, especially during the early mornings and evenings.

Meanwhile, easterlies are forecast to cause rain showers and thunderstorms over the Bicol Region, Quezon province, and Aurora.

Metro Manila and the rest of the country may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a chance of localized rain showers or thunderstorms from afternoon to evening.
