Israeli forces detained at least 70 Palestinians in operations across the occupied West Bank on Saturday, while eight others were injured in a separate attack, Palestinian authorities and media reported.
The largest number of arrests was recorded in Tell, a town near Nablus, where more than 40 young men were taken into custody during an extensive military raid.
Palestinian media said Israeli troops searched homes, surrounded the town and used one house as a temporary interrogation center.
The operation followed an attack near an Israeli settlement that killed two soldiers and wounded three others. Israel later announced a broader military campaign in Palestinian communities across the West Bank.
Violence also intensified around Nablus, where Palestinian officials said homes and other properties were set on fire during attacks involving Israeli settlers.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said four Palestinians were killed in Tell on Friday during clashes involving Israeli forces and settlers.
More arrests were reported in Jenin, Bethlehem, Ramallah, Al Bireh, Tubas and Hebron as Israeli troops continued raids in several areas.
The Palestinian Red Crescent Society also said eight Palestinians were injured in the village of Farata, including six who were shot, but no further details were immediately available.
