Israeli forces carried out a large-scale raid on the Qalandiya refugee camp and the nearby town of Kafr Aqab north of occupied East Jerusalem early Wednesday, according to the Jerusalem Governorate.
The governorate said troops imposed a curfew in Kafr Aqab and deployed military vehicles across the area during the operation.
Residents of Qalandiya were also prevented from attending dawn prayers at local mosques, while several people received text messages announcing the start of a military campaign in the camp.
The governorate said Israeli forces arrested the father of Laith al-Shawani, a Palestinian who had previously been killed.
An Israeli military vehicle also reportedly struck a young man near the camp. His condition was not immediately known.
Israeli forces conduct frequent raids across the occupied West Bank, including East Jerusalem, as part of what they describe as security operations.
Israel captured East Jerusalem in 1967 and later annexed it, a move not recognized by most of the international community.
Violence across the occupied West Bank has intensified since October 2023, with Palestinian authorities reporting more than 1,100 deaths, thousands of injuries and nearly 24,000 arrests.
