An Israeli drone struck a vehicle in southwestern Syria on Saturday, leaving one person injured, according to Syrian media.

Syrian broadcaster Al-Ikhbariya reported that the attack occurred in Beit Jinn, a town in the western countryside of Damascus.

The report did not identify the injured person or provide information about the extent of the injuries.

Syrian authorities had not immediately issued a statement on the incident. Israel also had not disclosed the intended target or the reason for the strike.

The attack came as Damascus pursued negotiations aimed at reaching a security arrangement with Israel amid continued tensions between the two sides.

Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa said in July that his government was working with several countries toward an agreement that could eventually open a path to broader peace.

Al-Sharaa, however, maintained that any potential agreement would not mean Syria abandoning its claim to the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.

Israel has controlled most of the Golan Heights since 1967. After the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s government in late 2024, Israeli forces moved into the demilitarized buffer zone and other positions, including the Syrian side of Mount Hermon.
