Israel’s military operations linked to conflicts with Iran and Hezbollah have pushed total costs to about $15 billion, according to a recent report.
The estimate, based on figures cited by a Hebrew language business publication, placed overall spending at roughly 47 billion shekels.
A large portion of the amount has been tied to defense requirements, with the Defense Ministry reportedly seeking additional funding to sustain operations.
Observers said the continuing hostilities may drive a long term increase in Israel’s security budget, reversing earlier expectations of reduced spending.
Beyond military costs, thousands of claims have been filed for property damage caused by missile strikes, adding to the financial burden.
Support programs for businesses and workers affected by disruptions were also expected to require several billion shekels in funding.
Authorities have also set aside resources to assist employees placed on unpaid leave due to the impact of the fighting.
Officials are studying ways to ease economic restrictions to limit losses, as the conflict that began in late February continues to weigh on the country’s finances.
