Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Saturday that Israel will continue its military campaign against Iran, saying the country has strategies prepared to weaken Tehran’s leadership.
Speaking at a news conference, Netanyahu said Israeli forces are carrying out the war with full determination. He said Israel has a plan that includes unexpected moves aimed at undermining the Iranian government.
The Israeli leader said recent actions have already reshaped the situation in the Middle East. He added that Israel itself has also undergone changes since the escalation of regional tensions.
Netanyahu also said he had taken difficult decisions in pursuing operations against what he described as Israel’s enemies.
The current regional crisis follows the Oct. 7, 2023 assault by Hamas and allied Palestinian groups that targeted Israeli military installations and settlements. The attack was described by the groups as an effort to challenge Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip.
Israel launched a major military campaign in Gaza following the attack. A ceasefire agreement was reached in October 2025, though reports of continued violations through airstrikes and gunfire persisted after the deal took effect.
Fighting expanded further after Israel and the United States began strikes on Iran on Feb. 28, which killed hundreds of people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and several senior security officials. Iran responded by launching missiles and drones toward Israel.
Tehran also targeted United States facilities and interests in several Gulf countries and Jordan. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian earlier said Iran would stop attacking neighboring states unless its territory was used to launch strikes, but missile and drone attacks were later reported in Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Iraq.
