Iran and the United States have finalized a draft on the temporary easing of sanctions on Iranian oil exports during talks in Switzerland, an Iranian negotiator said Sunday.
Hossein Ghorbanzadeh, a member of Iran’s negotiating team, said the draft was completed after technical discussions held alongside the main negotiations, according to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency.
He said the wider memorandum of understanding between Tehran and Washington would not fully take effect unless a final settlement was reached to end the war in Lebanon.
The talks were held at the Burgenstock resort in Switzerland under the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
The framework seeks to establish a permanent end to the US-Israeli war on Iran and settle related disputes through dialogue.
Ghorbanzadeh also said the Iranian delegation discussed the release of frozen Iranian assets during separate meetings with Qatari representatives.
Iran and the US earlier announced on June 14 that they had reached a 14-point understanding through Pakistani mediation.
The memorandum, which was electronically signed by Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and US President Donald Trump, included the end of hostilities on all fronts, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and the lifting of the US naval blockade imposed on Iran. (Anadolu)
