Infrastructure damage cost wrought by the recent tropical storms and southwest monsoon or habagat has topped ₱9 billion, according to the latest report issued by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).
On record, typhoons Crising (international name Wipha), Dante (Francisco) and Emong (Co-may), intensified by the habagat, tore off roofs, uprooted trees, toppled concrete electric posts, turned streets into rivers in several areas in the country.
The severe weather disturbances caused severe damage to at least 1,536 infrastructures in 10 regions nationwide, costing more than ₱9.4 billion with more than one-third of the destruction logged in Central Luzon at ₱3.8 billion and the other in Ilocos Region at over ₱3 billion.
Besides the Infra damages, a total of 617 road sections and 41 bridges were also affected while at least 4,473 houses were totally destroyed nationwide.
Meanwhile, the agricultural destruction due to the three consecutive storms was tagged at over ₱1.9 billion. Death toll is at 34 while the total number of injuries and missing is at 22 and seven, the NDRRMC said.
A total of 7.4 million people were affected by the bad weather in all regions nationwide.
