Iloilo urges to avail of real property tax amnesty until July 2026

The Iloilo Provincial Treasurer’s Office has urged property owners to take advantage of the real property tax (RPT) amnesty program before it ends on July 5, 2026.

Provincial Treasurer Jean Maire Umadhay said taxpayers may settle their dues at their respective municipal treasurers’ offices or at the Bayad Center located at the provincial capitol.

She said property owners may also opt to pay in installments until the deadline.

“They will only pay the principal amount since penalties, surcharges, and interests are waived under the tax amnesty,” Umadhay said.

After the deadline, penalties will be reimposed, and delinquent properties could be subjected to auction. Unpaid taxes are charged a 2 percent monthly penalty, up to a maximum of 72 percent.

“After the real property tax amnesty, we will schedule the auction of properties that did not avail of the program,” she added.

The amnesty is granted under Republic Act 12001 or the Real Property Valuation and Assessment Reform Act (RPVARA).

Meanwhile, Umadhay said the province will continue collecting taxes based on the old assessment, after the Sangguniang Panlalawigan approved an ordinance suspending the scheduled RPT increase.

She added that the next revision under the RPVARA is expected in 2028, which will affect future tax computations.
