ILOILO CITY – The provincial government honored its 48 top taxpayers for 2025 in a ceremony here on Thursday.
Provincial Treasurer Jean Maire Umadhay, in her message, said the ceremony is not simply closing ledgers and processing figures, but a celebration of a powerful and indispensable partnership that keeps the province moving forward.
“Unlike independent cities that enjoy dense, highly concentrated commercial tax bases, the province of Iloilo relies heavily on the steady heartbeat of the Real Property Taxes to build its independence and self-sustainability. Every single peso of local revenue is hard-earned, and its collection requires deliberate strategic effort,” she said.
Umadhay added that with their tax compliance, the province remains among the top performers nationwide in locally sourced revenues, “consistently recognized by the Bureau of Local Government Finance as one of the most economically resilient and business-friendly provinces in the Philippines.”
“Your tax compliance is the reason we continuously upgrade our 13 district and provincial hospitals, ensuring that quality health care is accessible to the grassroots. Your local revenue funds our Iskolar sa Iloilo program, opening doors of higher education for brilliant but underprivileged youth,” she said.
The local revenue was also used for the energy crisis assistance program for families in desperate need, and laid down vital concrete roads, bridges, and school facilities.
“When you pay your taxes, you are not just funding a government, you are actively anchoring the welfare of our fellow Ilonggos,” she added.
The top 20 real property taxpayers for the individual category were led by spouses Dennis and Dolores Devicente, who paid more than PHP4 million, followed by Joseph Yu with over PHP2.2 million and Ricky Ang with PHP2.1 million.
Leading the 20 taxpayers for the corporate category were Palm Concepcion Power Corp., which paid over PHP48.6 million; 8990 Housing Development Corp., PHP15.9 million; and Property Company of Friends, Inc., PHP13 million.
Also recognized were the top 3 taxpayers for annual fixed tax on delivery trucks and vans, and the top 5 taxpayers in amusement tax. (PNA)
