ILOILO CITY – Iloilo City Lone District Rep. Julienne Baronda on Wednesday expressed her full support for House Bill No. 7432 or the proposed No Work No Pay for Members of Congress Act authored by House Majority Leader Sandro Marcos, signifying her intention to be its co-author.

In a media interview, Baronda said the proposed measure is intended for legislators who do not report to Congress or those who are frequently absent.

Baronda said the bill covers both the House of Representatives and the Senate.

“It’s high time that we enjoin all members of the House to be at the plenary during session time. If we have other meetings, we can schedule that before the session so that when there are things that we need to decide immediately, we can do it,” she said.

She added that normally, they suspend the rules while waiting for members to go to the plenary or when committee meetings run simultaneously with the plenary session.

Baronda earlier joined Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development Secretary Jose Ramon Aliling, Social Housing Finance Corp. President and Chief Executive Officer Federico Laxa, during the distribution of Certificates of Lot Award for 367 members of the Mirasol Village Homeowners Association, Inc. at the People’s Center in Barangay San Isidro in Jaro district. (PNA)
