The rehabilitation of the passenger terminal at Iloilo International Airport reached 60 percent completion, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) reported on Monday.
In a statement, Caap said several key components of the project had already been finished, including the installation of four escalators and a new Flight Information Display System.
The agency also said repairs to the terminal’s baggage handling system were completed as part of the ongoing upgrade works.
Additional improvements included the provision of new gang chairs and luggage trolleys, as well as the installation of three chillers to enhance passenger comfort.
Caap Director General Raul del Rosario said the progress underscored the agency’s push to deliver safer, more efficient, and more passenger-oriented airport facilities.
He added that the upgrades were part of the government’s broader airport modernization program under the directives of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
Del Rosario said the rehabilitation was being carried out in phases to ensure airport operations continued safely while limiting disruption to passengers and other users.
