The House of Representatives is set to act on two priority measures when Congress resumes session this week, as lawmakers move to advance key parts of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s legislative agenda.
House Majority Leader Ferdinand Alexander Marcos said proposals on a national land use policy and amendments to the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, or 4Ps, had reached the final stage of the legislative process and were awaiting third reading approval.
He said the measures had already passed major legislative hurdles and now required continued floor action to secure final approval before Congress adjourns.
Marcos noted that the administration remained focused on pushing reforms tied to economic development, social protection, and institutional governance as the President’s term entered its latter years.
He also said the House had so far approved 18 of the 52 measures identified by the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council as priority legislation.
According to Marcos, the chamber had maintained what he described as a disciplined pace under the leadership of Speaker Faustino Dy III, adding that lawmakers were committed to completing measures already close to passage.
Members of the House are scheduled to return on Monday after a six-week legislative break that began in March, with sessions expected to continue until June 5.
Marcos said the remaining weeks of session would be crucial in ensuring that bills already in the final stages are brought to completion before adjournment.
