Honor of Kings debuts Filipino Hero Lapulapu on November 21

Honor of Kings will introduce its first Filipino hero, Lapulapu, in the international version of the game on November 21, highlighting local culture in the popular MOBA title. Inspired by the 16th-century Philippine folk hero, Lapulapu debuts as a tank-support hero with crowd control, mobility, and high survivability, designed to anchor team fights.

“Lapulapu reflects our ongoing effort to learn from and celebrate local cultures within Honor of Kings,” said Benj Dalmacio, senior business development manager of Level Infinite Philippines. The hero’s design is based on the famous Lapulapu statue in Central Visayas, wielding a Kampilan sword and Kalasag shield with mythical elements, and featuring 14th–15th century Visayan patterns in a red palette symbolizing courage.

Lapulapu’s skills let players disrupt enemy formations, initiate clashes, or protect teammates, with an ultimate knock-up ability and mobility skill for fast repositioning. Players can unlock Lapulapu for free during a launch event from November 21 to 27 by logging in, playing matches, and earning Lapu Coins redeemable for in-game items, including the hero.

Developed by TiMi Studio Group, Honor of Kings boasts over 200 million registered users and 100 million daily players worldwide, with a growing esports presence in the Philippines.
