Holcim Philippines, Inc. proudly announced that its groundbreaking project, the Circular Explorer, bagged the Silver Prize in Waste Management & Responsible Consumption, Production and Manufacturing under the Environment category at the inaugural Inquirer ESG Edge Impact Awards 2025.

Organized by the Inquirer Group of Companies (IGC), the awards honor organizations driving exceptional Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) impact across the Philippines. The ceremony, held at the Inquirer Media Resource Plaza in Makati, spotlighted trailblazing initiatives redefining sustainability and responsible corporate citizenship.

The recognition shines a light on the Circular Explorer — Holcim’s first-of-its-kind, solar-powered catamaran that not only collects marine plastic waste but also embodies the company’s mission to advance circularity and inspire collective climate action. Beyond clean-up operations, the vessel serves as a floating classroom and innovation hub, raising awareness about responsible consumption while uniting industry, government, and communities toward a shared environmental goal.

“We are honored to receive this recognition from the Inquirer Group. The Circular Explorer reflects Holcim’s deep commitment to sustainability and innovation, and this award inspires us to keep pushing for a greener, more circular Philippines,” said Nathalie Inductivo, OIC-Sustainability Manager and Project Coordinator of Circular Explorer.

The initiative has become a symbol of hope and collaboration — proof that technology, education, and community participation can converge to drive lasting environmental change. “We thank the Inquirer ESG Edge Impact Awards for celebrating initiatives that truly make a difference. With the Circular Explorer, we want to show that collective action can restore our oceans and empower communities to live sustainably,” added Chief Sustainability Officer Jill Iris Ramos.

Launched under the broader advocacy of the Asia ESG Positive Impact Consortium (A-EPIC) — co-founded by the Inquirer Group, Malaysia’s Star Media Group, and Indonesia’s KG Media — the awards reinforce a shared Southeast Asian commitment to sustainability through education, engagement, and collaboration.

Holcim’s recognition cements its place as a leader in sustainable innovation, setting a strong example for industries nationwide to embrace circular practices that protect the planet and shape a more resilient future.
