The southwest monsoon continued to affect large parts of Luzon and Western Visayas, bringing widespread rain and cloudy conditions on Tuesday, the state weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the weather system was driving moist air over the western sections of the country, resulting in frequent rainfall and thunderstorms.

The agency said the monsoon was actively influencing conditions across Luzon and parts of the Visayas, sustaining wet weather over affected areas.

They added that the system had been bringing rain over most of Luzon and portions of the Visayas, particularly along western coastal and inland regions.

Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms were forecast over Metro Manila, Luzon provinces, and Western Visayas throughout the day, according to Pagasa.

Authorities warned that moderate to heavy rains could trigger flash floods and landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous areas already saturated by previous rainfall.

In other parts of the country, partly cloudy to cloudy conditions with isolated rain showers were expected due to localized thunderstorms developing in the afternoon and evening.

Pagasa said the monsoon conditions were expected to persist, with continued monitoring of rainfall intensity and potential hazards in affected regions.
