Cloudy skies and occasional rain showers are expected to affect much of the country on Tuesday as the southwest monsoon, or habagat, continues to influence weather conditions, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
The weather agency said Metro Manila and most areas of Luzon would experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies, with thunderstorms likely to develop from the afternoon until evening.
The southwest monsoon is also expected to bring scattered rains over the Ilocos Region, Zambales, and Bataan.
Pagasa said the southern portions of Luzon will remain under the influence of the habagat, while the easterlies continue to affect parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.
Cloudy skies with scattered rains are forecast over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and the Davao Region due to the easterlies, which carry warm and moist air from the Pacific Ocean.
Pagasa explained that the cloud formations affecting western Luzon were associated with the southwest monsoon, while those over the eastern sections of the Visayas and Mindanao were being driven by the easterlies.
Residents in affected areas were advised to remain alert for possible thunderstorms, which could trigger localized flooding and other weather-related hazards.
Pagasa said the southwest monsoon is expected to weaken by Wednesday, reducing its impact on most parts of the country.
