A court-authorized search in this town uncovered two pistols, a hand grenade and about Php 204,000 worth of suspected shabu, leading to the arrest of a suspect, police said.
Operatives searched a property in Barangay Pulang-Lupa on Sept. 4 and allegedly found 11 plastic sachets containing around 30 grams of a white crystalline substance believed to be shabu.
The operation also yielded two .45-caliber pistols, two magazines, five rounds of ammunition, a hand grenade and a holster, according to the Philippine National Police.
Personnel from Regional Intelligence Division 13 conducted the raid with tactical support from the 1st Special Action Battalion of the Special Action Force.
Authorities said Regional Trial Court Branch 55 in Trento issued the search warrants in connection with alleged violations of laws regulating firearms, ammunition and explosives.
The suspect was placed under the custody of the Trento Municipal Police Station, while the seized weapons, ammunition, explosive and suspected illegal drugs were turned over for documentation and appropriate examination.
PNP chief Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said police would continue operations targeting the illegal possession of firearms and explosives as well as illegal drugs that could pose risks to communities.
Authorities did not disclose the suspect’s identity or immediately provide details on possible drug charges. The seized substance remains subject to laboratory confirmation, and the suspect is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
