Toyota Motor Philippines is set to raise the bar for performance enthusiasts as it officially introduces the all-new GR Corolla to the local market on December 23, marking the start of retail sales for the highly anticipated hot hatch.
The latest addition to Toyota’s Gazoo Racing Performance lineup, the GR Corolla joins the ranks of the GR Supra, GR Yaris, and GR 86, further strengthening the brand’s commitment to motorsports-inspired vehicles designed for real-world driving.
Developed with lessons drawn from global motorsports competitions such as Formula D, the 24 Hours of Fuji, and the British Touring Car Championship, the GR Corolla carries deep rally DNA. That heritage translates into sharper handling, enhanced stability, and performance that thrives in both circuit environments and endurance conditions—without sacrificing everyday usability.
Designed to deliver excitement beyond the racetrack, the five-seater GR Corolla adapts seamlessly to different driving scenarios. Multiple drive modes—Normal, Eco, Sport, Gravel, and Track—allow drivers to tailor the car’s response whether navigating city streets, carving through winding roads, or pushing limits on track days.
Its five-door layout adds everyday practicality, making entry and exit easy for passengers, while a roomy second row ensures comfort for longer drives with friends or family.
Visually, the GR Corolla makes a bold statement with its aerodynamic stance. It rides on 18-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in 235/40 tires and features Bi-LED headlights with manual leveling, LED daytime running lamps, and a rear spoiler.
Functional air vents, a rear diffuser, and a distinctive triple exhaust system are not just for show, but are engineered to enhance cooling and overall performance.
Powering the GR Corolla is a 1.6-liter turbocharged G16E-GTS three-cylinder engine, paired with an all-wheel-drive system. The powerplant delivers a maximum output of 300 PS and 400 Nm of torque, available from 3,250 to 4,600 rpm, providing strong acceleration and confident pull across a wide rev range. Suspension duties are handled by MacPherson struts with coil springs up front and a double wishbone setup at the rear, ensuring precise handling and ride control.
Inside, the cabin is unmistakably driver-focused. A 12.3-inch multi-information display and head-up display keep critical data within the driver’s line of sight, while synthetic leather and suede sport seats provide firm support during spirited driving. The infotainment system features a 7-inch display with AM/FM, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, complemented by practical boot space for everyday cargo needs.
Safety remains a priority, with the latest Toyota Safety Sense suite included as standard. Features such as the Pre-Collision System, Automatic High Beam, Lane Tracing Assist, and Lane Departure Alert provide added confidence on the road. The automatic variant comes equipped with Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, while the manual variant features Adaptive Cruise Control.
The GR Corolla will be offered in two variants. The 8-speed 1.6L Turbo automatic version is priced at PHP 3,955,000, while the 6-speed 1.6L Turbo manual starts at PHP 3,811,000. Buyers can choose from Emotional Red, Precious Metal, Black, and Super White exterior colors.
