In a bid to give public utility jeepney and UV Express drivers wider access to fuel assistance, the government will be expanding its Php 10-per-liter Fuel Subsidy Program (FSP) to all fuel retailers nationwide.
According to Department of Energy (DOE) secretary Sharon Garin, the nationwide rollout will makes subsidies more accessible while enforcing stricter compliance rules for participating fuel stations.
The secretary enthused that the FSP is part of the Unified Package for Livelihoods, Industry, Food and Transport Program that was launched immediately after President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr. declared a State of National Energy Emergency under Executive Order 110.
Garin announced that eligible beneficiaries of the FSP can receive up to Php 1,500 per vehicle weekly for three months under the said program.
The DoE disclosed that all participating fuel retailers must meet stricter operational and reporting standards to ensure that the FSP is properly implemented.
“Stations are required to complete onboarding, process subsidy transactions for qualified beneficiaries, maintain required systems and signage, set up designated FSP lanes and comply with government monitoring and validation rules,” Garin reminded.
Accordingly, gasoline stations have been warned that failure to comply with the tighter requirements would face suspension or cancellation of their Certificate of Compliance.
