Globe’s G-Gantic goals: Empowering students with AI-enabled tablets and digital citizenship

In today’s digital age, access to technology plays a crucial role in education. Recognizing this, Globe has taken a significant step in fostering digital inclusion by donating 100 AI-enabled tablets to students in five schools across the Philippines.

This initiative, part of its G-Gantic Goals campaign, aims to enhance learning experiences and instill responsible digital citizenship among young learners. The beneficiary schools include Centex Manila School, Pasong Kawayan West 2 Elementary School, Lahug Elementary School, Centex Batangas School, and Pampanga High School.

Bridging the digital divide
The donated AI-enabled tablets come preloaded with Globe’s Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP) modules, which focus on responsible digital citizenship and cyber wellness. The program is designed to help students navigate the online world safely, ethically, and productively.

During the official turnover, Raymond Baritua, Globe’s Loyalty Program Manager, emphasized the importance of digital responsibility, stating, “Through the Digital Thumbprint Program, we aim to equip students not only with tools for learning but also with the knowledge to become responsible digital citizens. This includes addressing challenges like cyberbullying and teaching students to recognize, prevent, and respond to harmful online behaviors.”

Understanding responsible internet use
A major thrust of the G-Gantic campaign is to safely, legally, and respectfully teach students responsible internet use. This also involves being conscious of how one’s online actions impact others and the broader digital community. As students become increasingly reliant on digital tools for education, it is imperative to cultivate a culture of ethical online behavior.

Globe’s initiative addresses these concerns by providing students with digital literacy education through DTP modules. The program covers essential topics such as online etiquette, privacy protection, recognizing fake news, and safeguarding personal information.
