Globe is set to extend its network reach to 100 additional Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) in 2025, bringing essential digital services to more underserved communities across the Philippines.
“Connectivity is a crucial driver of progress. By expanding our network infrastructure in GIDAs, we are opening doors to education, healthcare, and economic growth for millions of Filipinos. Globe remains dedicated to working alongside industry partners and the government to ensure inclusive digital access,” said Darius Delgado, Globe’s Chief Commercial Officer.
Currently operating 600 cell sites, Globe aims to increase this number to 700 by the end of the year, reinforcing its commitment to nationwide connectivity.
This expansion is part of the Connectivity Plan Task Force (CPTF) initiative under the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC), in collaboration with the country’s three major mobile network operators (MNOs).
As part of this initiative, telecom leaders have committed to building 1,050 new towers in GIDAs between 2025 and 2028, ultimately providing connectivity to approximately 12 million Filipinos in remote and underserved regions.
The telecommunications sector remains focused on enhancing network accessibility in these areas, with continued efforts to deploy more towers in unconnected communities through 2028.
Globe advocates for a collaborative, industry-wide approach to network expansion, stressing the importance of private sector and government partnerships in efficiently deploying telecom services to underserved regions.
By leveraging shared infrastructure and maximizing existing capacity, the industry aims to enhance digital accessibility and sustainability, positioning connectivity as a key enabler of inclusive growth and development.
