Globe supercharges Naga City with faster 5G connectivity

NAGA CITY, Philippines — Nagueños can now enjoy faster, more seamless digital experiences as Globe ramps up its 5G network in Naga City, bringing broader coverage and improved mobile speeds across all 21 barangays.

The network upgrade marks another step in Globe’s commitment to expanding digital access in one of the Bicol Region’s most dynamic cities—an economic, educational, cultural, and religious hub that continues to attract businesses, students, tourists, and innovators.

With enhanced 5G connectivity, residents and visitors can expect faster downloads and uploads, smoother video streaming, more reliable video calls, and quicker file sharing. The improved network also supports the growing demand for online learning, remote work, digital payments, e-commerce, content creation, and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies that are transforming homes, businesses, and public services.

As Naga City’s digital ecosystem continues to expand, Globe’s upgraded infrastructure is helping power a more connected and future-ready community.

“Connectivity plays a vital role in helping communities succeed in today’s digital world. By enhancing our 5G network in Naga City, we are providing customers with a faster and more reliable mobile experience that supports learning, business, tourism, and everyday communication,” said Adonis Evangelista, Globe General Manager for South Luzon.

The network enhancements complement Globe’s longstanding partnership with the Naga City government through its Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP), a nationwide initiative that promotes responsible digital citizenship. The program equips students, teachers, parents, and community members with knowledge on cybersecurity, data privacy, cyberbullying prevention, and online safety.

Supported by the Department of Education, the Digital Thumbprint Program has reached more than two million learners across the Philippines through free learning modules and interactive sessions designed to foster safer and more responsible digital habits.

For Naga City Mayor Leni Robredo, digital connectivity is an essential pillar of the city’s continued progress.

“Reliable digital connectivity is key to Naga City’s continued growth and transformation. Globe has been a valuable partner in expanding digital access while promoting responsible technology use through initiatives that benefit our students, communities, and local institutions. Together, these efforts help advance our vision of a more connected, resilient, and future-ready Naga,” Robredo said.

Beyond improving mobile services, Globe is also supporting the city’s broader digital transformation efforts. Through Globe Business, the company recently partnered with the 10th Convergence of Luzon ICT Champions and Exhibition, where it showcased emerging connectivity solutions and innovations for businesses, government agencies, and local communities.

Among the highlights was Globe’s presentation on “Bridging the Final Mile with Direct-to-Cell Technology,” which explored how next-generation solutions can help extend connectivity to underserved and geographically isolated areas.

As Naga City continues to embrace digital innovation, Globe’s latest 5G investments are helping ensure that residents, entrepreneurs, and institutions have the tools they need to thrive in an increasingly connected world.

With faster speeds, wider coverage, and sustained investments in digital inclusion, Globe is helping position Naga City as one of the country’s emerging smart and connected cities.
