Globe is taking another significant step toward environmental sustainability by expanding its eco-friendly SIM card initiative to include Globe Prepaid and TM customers. The eco-SIMs, made entirely from recycled plastic, are now accessible to Globe’s largest user base, which comprises over 96% of its mobile customers.
Originally introduced in 2022 for Postpaid users, Globe was the first telecom provider in the Philippines to adopt recycled plastics for its SIM cards. This latest move marks a full-scale rollout of the eco-SIMs across all mobile services.
By replacing traditional virgin plastic SIMs with those made from 100% recycled materials, Globe aligns its operations with key global goals—specifically, the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) 12 on Responsible Consumption and Production and SDG 13 on Climate Action.
“Sustainability is at the heart of what we do,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer. “We are always looking for opportunities within our operations where we can create meaningful impact.”
