BACOLOD CITY, October 2025 — As the City of Smiles lights up once again for the world-famous MassKara Festival, Globe is powering the celebration with stronger, faster, and more reliable 5G connectivity—ensuring that every smile, dance, and story can be shared in real time.
Beyond the vibrant masks and music, MassKara symbolizes the resilience and optimism of Bacolodnons—values that Globe shares as it continues to build meaningful connections that empower communities and drive progress.
“MassKara is about joy, connection, and resilience—the same values that define Globe,” said Roche Vandenberghe, Globe’s Chief Marketing Officer. “We’re proud to bring world-class connectivity to Bacolod through Globe 5G, allowing everyone to capture and share the city’s energy as it happens.”
Expanding 5G coverage across the City of Smiles
Globe has strengthened its 5G footprint in Bacolod City ahead of the MassKara festivities. To accommodate the surge of festival-goers, the company boosted network capacity and installed additional broadband lines in key activity zones, including Lacson Street, SM Bacolod, Robinsons, the Paglaum Sports Complex, and the Bacolod Public Plaza. These upgrades ensure smooth livestreams, instant uploads, and uninterrupted communication during the city’s most exciting week of the year.
Today, Bacolod and Negros Occidental boast over 300 Globe cell sites, including 5G, providing wide-reaching and dependable coverage. Globe’s 2025 expansion plan will add over 30 more upgraded 5G sites—reinforcing Bacolod’s position as a 5G-powered digital hub in the Visayas. Across Negros Oriental, Globe operates more than 100 additional cell sites, bringing the island’s total to nearly 600—making Negros one of the most connected provinces in the Philippines.
Enhancing the festival experience
To make the celebration even more interactive, Globe is extending the MassKara experience into the digital space through the GlobeOne app, the all-in-one festival companion. From October 17 to 19, visitors can head to the Globe Festival Experiential Platform along Lacson Street to spin the “Wheel You Win,” exchange Globe Rewards for exclusive MassKara merchandise, and join the GFiber’Oke challenge with prizes and fun games up for grabs.
Travelers arriving at Bacolod-Silay Airport from October 13 to 17 are greeted by Globe SIM booths, helping them stay connected the moment they arrive in the city. The festivities culminate on October 17 with G Music Fest at Capitol Lagoon—featuring performances by The Dukes, Earl Agustin, and Infinite Ridge in a night of music, smiles, and shared celebration.
Partners bringing more smiles
Adding to the excitement, Globe’s partners—GCash, Jollibee, and Pettr—are joining the celebration with on-ground activities, giveaways, and exclusive experiences designed to make MassKara 2025 brighter, livelier, and more connected than ever.
Even as the confetti settles, Globe’s network upgrades continue to power Bacolod’s growth in tourism, education, retail, and logistics. Each new 5G site strengthens the city’s digital foundation, ensuring that Bacolod’s smiles—and its spirit of resilience—stay connected and future-ready.
