SANYA, China — Gilas Pilipinas Men’s 3×3 is quickly turning heads at the 6th Asian Beach Games, opening its campaign with back-to-back wins that underscore both composure and growing confidence on the international stage.

Fresh from a gritty statement victory over host China, the young Filipino squad returned to the half-court with the same edge—this time grinding out a 21–18 win against Macau to remain unbeaten in Pool A.

It wasn’t a walk in the sand.

Macau kept things tight from the opening possession, matching Gilas basket for basket and refusing to let the game slip away. But the Filipinos leaned on their defensive intensity and timely shot-making, slowly gaining separation in the closing minutes.

With the score hanging in the balance, Gilas showed poise beyond its years—executing in crunch time, converting key baskets, and clamping down defensively to seal the deal.

The 3×3 format, known for its fast pace and physicality, has become a proving ground for the team’s chemistry. And early in the tournament, that chemistry is beginning to click.

More than just wins, it’s how they’re getting them.

Against China, Gilas absorbed the pressure of a home crowd and responded with grit. Against Macau, they showed discipline and control in a tightly contested matchup. Two different tests, two convincing answers.

Now sitting at 2–0, Gilas is not just surviving the group stage—it’s setting the tone.

With momentum building and confidence rising, the Filipinos are shaping up as a serious contender in Pool A, carrying both belief and rhythm into the next stretch of games.

If this early run is any indication, Gilas Pilipinas 3×3 isn’t just here to compete—they’re here to make noise. 🇵🇭🏀🔥
