
MANILA – Energy Secretary Sharon Garin called for stronger regional cooperation, innovation and investment in renewable energy as Southeast Asian countries work to meet rising energy demand while strengthening climate resilience.
Garin delivered the keynote address at the ASEAN Energy Business Forum at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
She highlighted the importance of collaboration among ASEAN member states and the private sector in accelerating the region’s transition toward cleaner and more sustainable sources of energy.
The Energy chief also underscored the role of renewable energy investment and technological innovation in supporting economic growth while improving the region’s ability to withstand climate-related challenges.
The forum brings together government officials, energy industry leaders and other stakeholders to discuss opportunities and strategies for advancing energy cooperation across Southeast Asia.
The Philippines continues to promote renewable energy development as part of efforts to strengthen energy security, diversify the country’s power mix and support the transition toward cleaner energy sources.
