San Francisco, California—Amber Kinetics, a United States-based energy storage system company, announced its plan to further expand its operations in the Philippines and the US.
This was shared during the visit in October 2024 facilitated by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) for the Philippine Ambassador to the US Jose Manuel Romualdez, according to a release from the agency on Tuesday.
Organized by the DTI-Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Silicon Valley, the visit to the company’s facility in Union City, California included a tour and a briefing that showcased the company’s innovative long-duration flywheel energy storage systems (FESS).
Ambassador Romualdez pointed out that Amber Kinetics is the sole provider offering long-duration FESS that extends energy storage from minutes to hours. This cutting-edge technology provides safe, sustainable, and reliable energy storage solutions for the modern grid.
“Amber Kinetics’ investment and innovation in energy storage are transforming the Philippines’ energy landscape, driving sustainability and supporting our transition to a greener future,” Ambassador Romualdez said as he recognized Amber Kinetics’ pivotal role in building the country’s renewable energy sector.
During the visit, the Phl Ambassador met with Amber Kinetics’ Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer Dr. Seth Sanders, General Manager of Global Human Resources Merrill Sutherland, Global Vice President of Engineering Roger Hitchcock, and General Manager for US Operations, Will Colban.
“This has been a wonderful bilateral international collaboration, and we look forward with excitement to the next stages of our joint development of world-leading energy efficacy solutions,” Dr. Sanders said as he expressed his gratitude for the Phl Ambassador’s visit to Amber Kinetics.
The visit builds on Amber Kinetics’ participation in the Philippines Sustainability Roundtable, held along the sidelines of the 2023 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation in San Francisco. During the roundtable, the company was commended for its contributions to the country’s renewable energy initiatives.
Moreover, accompanying Ambassador Romualdez were Consul General Neil Frank Ferrer, Consul Rowena Pangilinan-Daguipil, Trade Commissioner Kristine Umali, Rosalie Say, Lalaine Bacha, and Noel Nufable.
“The Philippine government remains focused on exploring potential public-private sector partnerships by leveraging Silicon Valley’s dynamic culture of innovation. As a global leader in renewable energy advancements, Silicon Valley is shaping the future of energy by developing sustainable solutions that transform how we generate, store, and use clean energy,” said Consul General Neil Frank Ferrer.
