The Philippine motorcycle market is shifting into high gear. In the second quarter of 2025 alone, sales roared to 910,923 units — up 4.8% from last year’s 876,074. It’s the kind of steady climb that proves two wheels are more than just a ride here — they’re a way of life.

From weaving through gridlocked EDSA to delivering everything from coffee to construction supplies, motorcycles remain the country’s ultimate mobility hack. And with fuel efficiency, lower costs, and financing options now more accessible, it’s no wonder they’re speeding ahead in popularity.

“Filipinos continue to see two-wheeled vehicles as a practical solution to daily commuting challenges,” said MDPPA President Alex Cumpas. “Their affordability, fuel efficiency, and ability to weave through heavy traffic make them an essential choice for urban mobility.”

The Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association, Inc. (MDPPA) — which counts industry powerhouses Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki, Yamaha, and TVS among its members — revealed that the Automatic/Scooter category still dominates the road. From nimble scooters to rugged street bikes, every segment saw demand holding strong, cementing motorcycles’ role as both a workhorse and a lifestyle choice.

Industry watchers say the growth isn’t just about city life. Rural areas are seeing rising adoption too, with more Filipinos relying on motorcycles for small business logistics, deliveries, and everyday transportation. The expanding gig economy, fueled by courier and mobility services, has only added more fuel to the tank.

“We remain optimistic about the continued growth of motorcycle sales this year,” said Toni Boi Acuesta, MDPPA’s Marketing Committee Chairperson. “Strong consumer demand and the growing appeal of motorcycles as cost-effective personal transport will keep the market riding high.”

With the sector already on track for an estimated 5% annual growth, 2025 could be another record-breaking year — and in the Philippines, it looks like the motorcycle boom is only just getting warmed up.
