The scandal gripping showbiz and pageant circles took a dramatic new turn after a key ally surfaced with what he claims is a solid alibi for Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee—placing her not in a Makati condominium, but in Iloilo, on the very day a private driver says he was being tortured.
As accusations of assault, illegal detention, and torture explode into public view, celebrity footwear designer Jojo Bragais has stepped forward, flatly disputing claims that Dee took part in the alleged mauling of actress Rhian Ramos’ personal driver, known only as “Totoy.”
“Base sa pano ko kilala si MMD (Dee) and SamPan (Panlilio), I doubt they could do ‘yung mga issues na binabato. Parehong chill na tao ‘to. And nasa Iloilo kami nila MMD nung January 17,” Bragais wrote.
According to Bragais, Dee could not have been involved because she was physically with him and their group in Iloilo on January 17, the same date the driver claims the abuse began.
Bragais, a long-time figure in the pageant industry and the official footwear provider for multiple Miss Universe editions, took to social media to vouch not only for Dee’s whereabouts but also for her character—and that of fellow beauty queen Samantha Panlilio, who was also named in the complaint.

The statement immediately fueled online debate, with netizens questioning logistics, timelines, and the presence—or absence—of security personnel. Asked directly whether Dee had bodyguards with her during the Iloilo engagement, Bragais doubled down, painting a picture far removed from the violent scene described by the complainant.
“Sa mga raket namin na mag kakasama, RM [road manager] ang kasama at di body guard. Wala akong ma alala base sa aking memory at personal na pagsasama na may ganap kaming may dala syang bodyguard. Mapa event, provincial judging or commercial shoot,” he replied.
The driver’s account, now under investigation by the National Bureau of Investigation, tells a far darker story. Totoy alleged that he was accused of stealing a “sensitive” photograph and was beaten by Ramos’ bodyguards at around 3 a.m. on January 17.
He further claimed that later in the day, Dee and Panlilio themselves joined in physically assaulting him, and that he was detained for days inside the residence.
With Bragais’ claims now circulating, the timeline has become the central battlefield—raising a blunt, uncomfortable question echoed across social media: if Dee was in Iloilo, who was really in that Makati condo?
Adding more heat to the controversy, celebrity makeup artist Dave Quiambao, who worked closely with Dee during her Miss Universe 2023 campaign, also backed the Iloilo narrative, openly questioning the plausibility of the accusations.
“Pano nangyari ‘to ng January 17 eh nasa Iloilo kami? (How did this happen on January 17, we were in Iloilo?) Panooo? (How?),” Quiambao wrote in a pointed caption accompanying a post about the allegations.
Legal lines are now being drawn. Dee and Ramos’ lawyer, Maggie Abraham-Garduque, has already denied the accusations of illegal detention and torture, stating that her clients are ready to respond formally once they receive a copy of the complaint.
Meanwhile, Panlilio has remained silent, her absence from the conversation only intensifying speculation as the court of public opinion renders its own harsh verdicts.
As witnesses, receipts, and recollections collide, the case is quickly evolving from a single driver’s complaint into a high-stakes credibility war—pitting celebrity alibis, social media testimonies, and legal process against allegations so severe they threaten to permanently scar reputations.
Whether the truth lies in Iloilo, Makati, or somewhere in between, one thing is clear: this is no longer just a legal matter—it is a full-blown showbiz reckoning.
