Free internet access is now available to commuters at all EDSA Busway stations, expanding digital services along one of Metro Manila’s busiest transport corridors.
The connectivity upgrade forms part of the Free Wi-Fi for All Program jointly implemented by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Department of Transportation (DOTr).
Covering all 17 stations, the service offers passengers internet speeds of about 40 to 60 megabits per second while waiting for or riding buses.
DICT Secretary Henry Aguda said the initiative aims to improve the commuting experience by making travel more comfortable and productive for the public.
Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez welcomed the program, noting that stable connectivity also supports cashless payment systems used at the stations.
The launch was held on Jan. 15 at the Quezon Avenue busway station, led by Aguda and Lopez.
The Edsa Busway rollout builds on earlier projects by the two agencies, including the introduction of free Wi-Fi at MRT-3 stations last year.
