Fortinet unveils AI-powered FortiEndpoint to help businesses secure the future of work

As artificial intelligence becomes deeply embedded in the modern workplace, cybersecurity is facing a new challenge: how to protect sensitive data while enabling employees to safely embrace AI tools. Fortinet is betting that the answer lies in simplicity.

The global cybersecurity leader has announced a major expansion of its unified endpoint security platform, FortiEndpoint, introducing new AI-era capabilities designed to help organizations securely adopt artificial intelligence, improve data protection, and simplify security operations.

The latest enhancements bring AI visibility and governance, native data loss prevention (DLP), endpoint risk scoring, and AI-assisted security operations into a single platform—delivered through one agent, one console, and one license.

“Organizations need a simpler and more effective way to manage security as their environments become more complex and AI-enabled,” said Michael Xie, Founder, President, and Chief Technology Officer at Fortinet.

He said Fortinet’s broader Security Fabric strategy focuses on converging critical networking and security functions across enterprises to reduce complexity, improve visibility, and strengthen protection. The expanded FortiEndpoint platform extends that vision by consolidating security, secure access, data protection, AI visibility, and AI-assisted operations into one integrated solution.

Built for the AI Workplace

As employees increasingly rely on AI-powered applications, virtual agents, and generative AI tools in their daily workflows, organizations are under pressure to strike a balance between innovation and security.

Fortinet noted that AI adoption has created new risks, including shadow AI usage, unauthorized applications, insider threats, and accidental exposure of sensitive information. Security teams are also grappling with fragmented tools that make endpoint protection more difficult and time-consuming.

The enhanced FortiEndpoint platform aims to address these challenges by providing organizations with centralized visibility and control over both sanctioned and unsanctioned AI applications across employee devices.

Security teams can identify which AI tools are being used, monitor adoption trends, and gain insights into user activity from a single dashboard. Granular guardrail policies allow administrators to permit, restrict, monitor, or block AI applications based on corporate security and compliance requirements.

This approach enables businesses to support responsible AI adoption without compromising data security or regulatory compliance.

Protecting Sensitive Data in Real Time
One of the platform’s key additions is native Data Loss Prevention capabilities designed specifically for AI interactions.

FortiEndpoint can automatically inspect sensitive information shared with AI applications, agents, and web services to help prevent data leaks involving personally identifiable information, intellectual property, and financial data.

The platform also incorporates built-in user coaching features that provide employees with real-time guidance on acceptable AI usage, helping reduce risky behavior while maintaining productivity.

By embedding DLP directly into the endpoint platform, organizations can strengthen data security without deploying additional tools or management layers.

AI-Assisted Security Operations
Fortinet is also leveraging artificial intelligence to make cybersecurity operations more efficient.

The newly integrated FortiAI-Assist enables security teams to use natural language commands to investigate incidents, generate summaries, identify high-risk devices, visualize findings, and troubleshoot issues.

The AI assistant provides contextual recommendations and policy guidance, helping analysts prioritize threats, improve governance, and scale threat-hunting efforts through a unified management experience.

Complementing these capabilities are adaptive zero-trust features powered by dynamic endpoint risk and compliance scoring. The platform continuously evaluates device health and security posture, enabling organizations to make real-time access decisions based on risk levels.

This means access to AI applications and sensitive resources can automatically adapt as endpoint risks change, helping reduce exposure while maintaining productivity.

Industry Recognition
Cybersecurity analysts say organizations are increasingly seeking practical ways to govern AI usage without adding more complexity to their existing security infrastructure.

“Fortinet is addressing what many CISOs need now: visibility into AI usage, control over sanctioned and unsanctioned tools, protection against sensitive data leakage, and real-time coaching to help employees use AI responsibly,” said Chris DePuy, Technology Analyst at 650 Group.

“Delivering these capabilities through FortiEndpoint gives customers a practical way to manage AI risk with the same agent and license they already rely on for endpoint security,” he added.

The new FortiEndpoint enhancements are expected to become available in the third quarter of 2026, further strengthening Fortinet’s push toward unified cybersecurity solutions for an increasingly AI-driven business landscape.
