Flooding affected 40 villages in Iloilo City on Friday as rains from the southwest monsoon, enhanced by Tropical Storm Kiyapo, continued to hit parts of the area.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office advised communities, particularly those near the coast, to consider preemptive evacuation as intermittent light to heavy rains were expected.
Molo recorded the highest number of flooded villages at 12 as of 2 p.m., according to the city disaster office.
Eight villages were affected in La Paz, while City Proper and Mandurriao each reported six. Jaro and Lapuz had three flooded villages each, while Arevalo had two.
At least 109 families, or 435 people, were staying in evacuation centers in the villages of Calubihan, San Vicente, San Antonio, Infante, Don Esteban and Ticud.
Disaster officials said village authorities had been briefed on weather forecasts, possible hazards and evacuation preparations as part of local risk assessments.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office also activated camp management teams across seven districts, with personnel, vehicles and relief supplies placed on standby.
Authorities had prepared food packs, rice, canned goods, drinking water, hygiene kits and other essential items as residents were urged to continue monitoring official weather and safety advisories.
