Southeast Asian fintech leader Fiuu has secured a JCB Direct Acquiring license as a Regional Acquirer, marking a major step in expanding seamless and secure card acceptance across the region.

The new license enables Fiuu to connect directly with JCB in Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines, allowing the company to process transactions in-house and provide merchants with faster, more reliable, and more efficient payment services across both online and offline channels. Thailand is next in line as part of Fiuu’s regional expansion plans.

By eliminating reliance on intermediaries, Fiuu gains greater control over transaction processing, settlement operations, and merchant support—translating into faster settlement times, improved transaction visibility, enhanced payment reliability, and a more consistent experience for JCB Cardmembers.

The milestone further strengthens Fiuu’s position as one of Southeast Asia’s leading payment providers. In FY2025 alone, the company processed approximately US$13 billion in total payment volume, underscoring its ability to support large-scale digital payment activity across industries and markets.

The announcement comes as Southeast Asia’s digital economy continues to surge. Today, three out of five consumers in the region shop online, while more than 60% of all payments are made digitally. Despite the rapid rise of QR and digital wallet transactions, credit cards remain a key payment method, driven by consumer loyalty programs, rewards ecosystems, and cross-border spending—making robust card acceptance more important than ever.

“This milestone reflects the next phase of Fiuu’s regional acquiring growth,” said Eng Sheng Guan, Chief Executive Officer of Fiuu.

“Businesses expanding across Southeast Asia need payment partners that combine local market expertise, direct scheme connectivity, and operational excellence. Our direct acquiring relationship with JCB strengthens that foundation, enabling us to deliver broader payment acceptance, greater consistency, and the confidence merchants need to serve customers across both digital and physical commerce.”

The partnership also strengthens JCB’s footprint in Southeast Asia. One of the world’s leading payment brands and Japan’s premier credit card issuer and acquirer, JCB has issued 181 million cards globally as of 2026 and is accepted by 72 million merchants worldwide.

Through Fiuu’s growing merchant network, businesses across Southeast Asia will gain easier access to millions of JCB Cardmembers, expanding payment options and enhancing customer convenience.

“We are delighted to partner with Fiuu as our Regional Acquirer for Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines,” said Shimpei Yamaguchi, Managing Director of JCB International Asia Pacific Pte. Ltd.

“As Southeast Asia’s payments landscape evolves rapidly, Fiuu’s regional expertise, fast-growing merchant network, and multi-channel payment capabilities make it an important partner in expanding JCB acceptance across the region. Together, we are committed to making JCB more accessible to merchants and cardmembers while strengthening our payment network across Southeast Asia.”

Looking ahead, Fiuu is actively working to extend its direct acquiring capabilities to Thailand—a key market in its regional growth strategy. The planned expansion aligns with the company’s broader ambition of becoming Southeast Asia’s leading regional Card Scheme Acquirer, offering businesses a single payment partner with direct acquiring capabilities, deep local market knowledge, and secure, scalable payment solutions.

With its newly secured JCB Direct Acquiring license, Fiuu is further cementing its role as a trusted fintech partner, helping businesses unlock wider customer reach, streamline payment operations, and capitalize on the growing opportunities within Southeast Asia’s rapidly evolving digital payments ecosystem.
