First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos recently visited the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) to inspect ongoing renovations and preparations ahead of the Philippines’ hosting of ASEAN 2026.
“This iconic space has been a witness to many pivotal chapters in our history — and now, it’s being primed to host the world once more,” she shared in an Instagram post.
She also expressed her gratitude to the PICC team and the ASEAN National Organizing Committee, commending their efforts to transform the venue into a symbol of Filipino hospitality, strength, progress, and regional vision.
The Philippines is scheduled to host the ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in 2026. In preparation for this international gathering, the Office of the President received an increased budget for fiscal year 2025, which includes a request for additional funding to support hosting responsibilities.
ASEAN, or the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, is a regional bloc committed to fostering economic growth, social development, and cultural cooperation among member states. Its initiatives are grounded in principles of equality and partnership, aiming to build a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Southeast Asian community.
The organization also upholds regional peace and justice through adherence to the rule of law and the principles of the United Nations Charter.
